On 20 February, a farewell luncheon was held for Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, the Chairman of OUM’s Board of Governors, whose tenure ended last December. After contributing more than 15 years of service to OUM, he leaves behind a legacy of embracing the true spirit of humanity.
On 23 February, the 3rd International Open University Conference on Research and Integrated Sciences (IOUCRIS 2023) was launched. A 2-day hybrid conference, its first day was at the OUM Main Campus while the second day will be held fully online on 3 March. The conference is a collaboration with International Open University, Gambia (IOU).
According to IOU Director of Research and Publications, Assoc Prof Dr Afroza Bulbul Afrin, the conference themed “Collaboration and Networking for Excellence in Research” aimed to foster a research culture among academics, researchers and students and to also publish a quarterly peer-reviewed journal entitled Journal of Integrated Sciences.
OUM Vice President (Academic & Research), Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Tajudin Ninggal, was one of the two keynote speakers. He spoke on “What Is Your Psychological DNA?”
IOUCRIS 2023 focused on research in social sciences, Islamic sciences and pure sciences. It was attended by guests from the Selangor district education office as well as presenters and participants from IOU, OUM and other local public and private universities.
Then, on 25 February, OUM President and Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Ahmad Izanee Awang, witnessed the graduation of 64 OUM learners (28 MBA and 36 BBA) at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) in Vietnam. He was accompanied by Datuk Tajudin and General Manager (Learner Experience and Technology), Prof Siti Aishah Hashim Ali.
HUTECH is one of OUM’s best-performing international partners, having begun collaborating in 2011.
