On 4 November, YBhg Prof Dato’ Seri Ir Dr Noor Azuan Abu Osman, Chairman of the METEOR Board of Directors, paid a visit to Menara OUM for an engaging meet-and-greet session.
The session began with Dato’ Seri Noor Azuan sharing insights from his travels to various countries. He spoke about witnessing their remarkable progress and learning valuable lessons on adapting to change. These experiences, he said, offered inspiration for growth and innovation back home.
The discussion soon turned lively as attendees posed thought-provoking questions about METEOR’s future and the evolving landscape of education. One question that stood out focused on the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) and how it could shape OUM’s future.
Dato’ Seri Noor Azuan emphasised that AI is an unavoidable reality in today’s world. “I feel that in this new world we live in, we cannot run away from AI. Whether we like it or not, we must accept it. AI is a tool which we can use to ease the burden of tasks,” he said.
However, he cautioned against over-reliance on AI, pointing out that it builds on human knowledge and merely simplifies access to information.
Addressing the challenges of digitalisation, he stressed the importance of OUM staying ahead of the curve. He urged the University not to settle for being “good enough” but to strive for excellence by offering cutting-edge programmes enhanced by advanced technology.
The session concluded with a call to action. Dato’ Seri Noor Azuan encouraged OUM to design programmes that are exciting, adaptable, and aligned with global trends. “OUM must become more relevant and more than just digital. It must surpass limitations and create programmes that are not average or conventional. It must create programmes that are catchy,” he said.
The Chairman’s visit left attendees inspired, reinforcing the need for OUM to innovate and remain a leader in the education sector.
