Welcome to the Faculty of Technology and Applied Sciences, Open University Malaysia.

As the Dean of the faculty, it is my utmost pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all of you. At FTAS, we are dedicated to encouraging an interdisciplinary approach, which has greatly aided our learners’ various accomplishments.  The faculty focuses on 4 different sub-fields: information technology, allied health sciences, applied science and technology, and occupational safety and health. As part of the faculty’s role in democratizing education to all levels of society and providing quality academic programmes that meet the current needs of industry and employers, various approaches are introduced through open flexible distance learning (OFDL). Our faculty offers 17 academic programmes at the Diploma, Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD and Doctorate levels, catering to the diverse needs and aspirations of our learners. All the academic programmes in the faculty are fully accredited by MQA and several professional bodies including the Malaysia Nursing Board, Medical Assistant Board, SIRIM, and the Department of Occupational Safety and Health Malaysia.

Our faculty comprises a team of distinguished adjunct professors, senior academicians, experienced researchers, and dedicated support staff who are committed to nurturing talent, fostering innovation, and promoting excellence in teaching, learning and research. We provide a state-of-the-art industry-driven academic programme structure, learning management system, well-equipped skill labs, and access to the latest technological resources to facilitate teaching and learning via open flexible distance learning. We encourage learners to engage in industry collaborations to gain real-world experience and enhance their professional competencies.
