A delegation from OUM was given a tour of the National Child Development Research Centre (NCDRC) at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). The tour included a visit to both the research facilities and the childcare building operated by NCDRC.
The team comprised the Faculty of Education’s Dean Dr Aliza and academics – Dr Mahani Abdul Malik, Dr Loo Fung Lan, Dr Rohaizat Ibrahim, and Nurhusna Abdul Malek – as well as non-academic staff, Gowri M. Ramanathan and Zazilia Mohd Rawi.
The NCDRC is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to support a variety of child development studies, focusing on early childhood education, developmental psychology, and teacher training. The NCDRC child care building functions as both a care facility for young children and a practical learning environment for students and researchers. It is designed to offer high-quality early childhood care and education, reflecting the best practices in the field.
The team also met with NCDRC’s Dr Harnani Mat Zin and Dr Intan Farahana Abdul Rani to explore potential collaborations in two key areas: (1) Teacher Professional Training courses and Kursus Asuhan PERMATA, and (2) joint research initiatives through matching grants and co-author publications in early childhood areas.
The meeting resulted in positive outcomes for both institutions. The discussion on collaboration on Teacher Professional Training courses and research initiatives holds significant promise for enhancing academic programs and contributing to the broader Early Childhood Education field. Both OUM and NCDRC UPSI are committed to moving forward with these initiatives and will continue discussions to ensure successful implementation.
