17 January, Kuala Lumpur: Open University Malaysia has won the platinum award at the Putra Brand Awards 2024. This is the first platinum for OUM, which had won the gold in 2023.
The award was received by President/Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Ahmad Izanee Awang. He said the recognition for OUM, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, reflects the trust and confidence of the public in OUM as an established brand that offers a reliable, credible and flexible mode of learning, widening access to higher education for all Malaysians.
“This platinum award means a great deal to us as we will be celebrating our silver jubilee this coming August. As an institution that began as an alternative to mainstream higher education, we are truly touched by the widespread acceptance we have earned from the public.
“We will continue to offer fully online diploma to doctorate programmes that both add value to and fulfil the needs of those wishing to advance their careers”.
The Putra Brand Awards, Malaysia’s premier brand recognition event, was launched in 2010 by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As) in collaboration with Malaysia’s Most Valuable Brands.
Using a comprehensive consumer research methodology, Malaysian consumers select their favourite brands across multiple categories. In each category, organisations are awarded Platinum, Gold, Silver, or Bronze to recognise the most preferred brands. Thus, the judges of the Putra Brand Awards are the consumers themselves.
