METEOR, OUM’s parent company, recently hosted a spectacular Superheroes Family Day that brought together 480 staff from across Malaysia at the picturesque Parkroyal A’Famosa Melaka.
Rather than a one-day affair, it was a series of events that kicked off weeks before the main event. Staff were divided into five vibrant teams according to colour: purple, blue, green, yellow and red. The teams faced a series of challenges that put their diverse talents to the test, from brain-teasing quizzes to toe-tapping dance challenges.
Then, on 7 September, the lush grounds of A’Famosa transformed into a playground for adults, hosting a variety of team-building activities. While the event was exclusively for staff, the atmosphere was nothing short of a family gathering, with laughter and excitement filling the air.
The highlight of the celebration was the dinner, where OUM President/Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Ahmad Izanee Awang gave an inspiring speech, followed by the introduction of OUM25 by Vice President/Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & Research) Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Tajuddin Md Ninggal. OUM25 is the University’s silver jubilee celebrations next year, which comes with the theme “Humanising Digital Education”.
Prof Izanee, Datuk Tajudin, and METEOR Group Chief Financial Officer, Nurul Maisara Md Isa, jointly launched this exciting new chapter, with the staff erupting in cheers as balloons ascended to reveal the striking OUM25 logo.
The night continued with a karaoke competition and mic challenge that revealed hidden talents among the METEOR family. Who knew drivers and managers could hit impressively high notes? To add to the fun, there was a prize swap, where the staff gave and received anonymous gifts with one another.
The next day, a fun party game took place, with staff collecting stickers through various challenges and redeeming them for gifts at a “METEOR Mart”.
As the sun set, they departed with arms full of goodies, hearts full of joy, and minds brimming with unforgettable memories.
