Ministry Adopts TAJMA Personality Test by OUM VC (Academic & Research)

On 11 March, Women, Family, and Community Development Minister, YB Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, launched a guideline for the selection of adoptive parents. It would be used to determine their suitability for the guardianship of children.

“Under this guideline, the Social Welfare Department will screen applicants through an online personality assessment called TAJMA Personality Profile. This is a psychological measurement tool that provides scientific data about an individual’s personality traits. TAJMA has been specially designed to measure an individual’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviour,” Nancy said at the launch of the guideline at the Sabah International Convention Centre in Kota Kinabalu.

She revealed that her ministry had handled 6,781 cases of abuse (physical, sexual, emotional abuse) and neglect last year. The TAJMA Personality Profile would be useful as it could measure an individual’s inclination towards borderline personality disorder.

TAJMA, which stands for “Tajudin Malaysia”, is the invention of OUM Vice President (Academic and Research), Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Tajudin Ninggal, who is a US-trained licensed professional counsellor and registered counsellor with the Malaysian Counselling Board.

He is also the founder of TAJMA Online Personality Plus (TPe+) and TAJMA Online Career Interest Plus (TCIP+). These tools have been used by more than 50 government agencies, corporate sectors, universities, and NGOs.

“TPe+ and TCIP+ are Malaysia’s first online psychological tools, designed to identify an individual’s or a group’s personality traits and career interests. Developed based on Malaysian cultural values, norms, and psychology, the two tests have been copyrighted since 2003 and are suitable for anyone between the ages of 11 and 85,” said Prof Tajudin.

To date, he has profiled more than 50,000 individuals from different age groups and backgrounds. “It is timely that we use Malaysian psychometric assessment tools for our screening and selection processes,” he said.
