Postgrads Learn About Writing for Indexed Journals

Selangor, 27 May – Thirty students attended a workshop on “Mastering the Art of Writing and Publishing Papers in Indexed Journals: Proven Strategies and Insider Tips” for PhD and Doctorate students.

Held at Menara OUM from 25 to 26 May, the workshop was hosted by the OUM Graduate Centre (OUMGC) in collaboration with the Centre for Learner Affairs.

The speaker for the workshop was Prof Dr Aminul Islam from Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UNIMAP), who has published numerous papers in high-impact journals and has extensive experience in research and publishing.

The workshop was opened by OUMGC Director, Assoc Prof Dr Shishi Kumar Piaralal, who emphasised the importance of publishing in indexed journals and the workshop’s aim to equip participants with the skills to do so.

The workshop activities comprised interactive lectures and Q&A sessions, discussions on selecting appropriate journals, practical exercises on writing abstracts, and peer review simulations to understand the review process.

The participants left the workshop with a better understanding of high-impact journals, practical skills in advanced research methods, techniques for structuring and writing high-quality academic papers, knowledge of the submission and review process for journals, and awareness of ethical issues in academic publishing.

They were pleased with the clarity and depth of the presentations and the relevance and applicability of the workshop content to their theses.
