Overview

The objectives of this programme are:

  • To equip learners with basic and advanced knowledge in quality management and quality improvement.
  • To provide learners with the necessary skills for them to define, measure, analyze, improve and control the quality management and quality improvement plans in their respective organizations.
  • To enhance learners generic and transferable skills applicable for industries and realizing the nations mission in creating specialised and technology driven workforces.
  • To produce Certified Quality Managers, Certified Quality Professionals and Certified Quality Auditors.

SIRIM Certification:
The following certificates will be issued upon successful completion of the programme as per SIRIM requirements:

  • Total Quality Fast Track Assessor
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor
  • Certified Quality Manager
  • Certified Quality Professional

Four certificates will be awarded by SIRIM (SIRIM STS which runs the SIRIM Personal Certificate Program (SPCP) is a subsidiary of SIRIM Bhd. certified to ISO 9001 by SAI Global based in Australia since 2012).

Discount for the Physically Challenged Learners (OKU) and Senior Citizens

The University offers 50% discount for:
1. Senior citizens aged 60 and above on registration date; and
2. Physically challenged learners – a valid Orang Kelainan Upaya (OKU) is required.
The discounts are not valid for second time registration and repeating of subjects.
Learners who receive this discount are not entitled to other discounts and promotions.

    Master of Quality Management (MQM) of OUM is designed to equip learners with basic and advanced knowledge in quality management and quality improvement. It provides learners with the necessary skills for them to define, measure, analyse, improve and control the quality management and quality improvement plans in their respective organizations. The broad-based quality programme enhances learners generic and transferable skills applicable for industries and realizing the nations mission in creating specialised and technology driven workforces. The MQM graduates will be recognised as ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, Total Quality Fast Track Model (TQFTM) Assessor, Certified Quality Managers and Certified Quality Professionals.

    Yes, the programme is recognized by MQA and JPA.

  4. Do I need to pay fees for the extra 4 certifications by SIRIM?
    No need. MQM students just need to pay for MQM fees to OUM.

  5. How many days of training for each of certifications?
    The certifications involve a total of 6 days of training with SIRIM Training Sdn Bhd. Upon completion of the second semester of the study, MQM learners will be invited to join the following:
    • ISO 9001: 2015 Lead Auditor (4 days)
    • Total Quality Fast Track Model –TQFTM (2 days)
      **Note that there will be an assessment at the end of each SIRIM training.Upon graduation, the following 2 certifications by SIRIM will be awarded to the MQM graduates (without training days):
      • Certified Quality Manager
      • Certified Quality Professional
  6. What are the entry requirements for MQM?
    Normal Entry
    • Bachelor degree in any field with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent as accepted by Senate;
      OR
    • Bachelor degree in any field with CGPA less than 2.50, can be accepted with a minimum of 5 years working
      experience.
      OR
      APEL entry
    • Malaysian; AND
    • The candidate should be more than 30 years of age in the year of application; AND
    • Relevant work experience / prior experiential learning; AND
    • Pass the APEL Assessment (Aptitude Test, Portfolio & Interview) conducted by OUM; AND
    • Possess the following qualification:
      • STPM / Recognised Diploma; Or
      • Matriculation / Foundation (credit score 50-52 credits; CGPA grade 2.00 and above; minimum study period of one year); Or
      • A-Level (minimum of 3 courses; minimum grade E; duration of study at least 18 months); Or
      • International Baccalaureate Diploma (minimum of 6 courses and 3 required elements; minimum grade of 24 points and above; duration of study at least 2 years).
  7. What is the mode of teaching for the programme?
    • MQM is a taught course program (Part-time for 2 years) where you are encouraged to attend the e-tutorial sessions conducted using video conferencing via Google Meet (10 sessions@10 hours per course) by E-Facilitator.
    • You will also be supported with the forum discussion under the learning platform (MyInspire) assisted by the e- facilitator. Assignment and modules will be uploaded in your MyInspire course.
    • You are recommended to register for 2 courses per semester.
    • You are required to submit assignments through online and sit for the take home final examination through online submission. Several courses will have fully coursework (Eg: Research Methodology)
