This year, the floods have been reported to be more severe compared to previous years, with some areas even worse than the massive floods of 2014. Infrastructure and property have suffered extensive damage, resulting in losses amounting to millions of ringgits. Even more heart-breaking, several Temporary Evacuation Centres (PPS) had to turn away flood victims due to being overcrowded.
Although the Kelantan Learning Centre was not directly affected because of its location away from floodwaters, continuous heavy rain posed some challenges. Our building experienced roof leaks, and the electrical wiring system was affected. However, the situation returned to normal once the rain subsided, and the electricity supply has been fully restored.
After the floods subside, we plan to organise various activities with the alumni and student associations.
While weathering the storm, we are also still rejoicing over our triumph, being the OUM Learning Centre to bring in the highest number of learners this year. We achieved an extraordinary milestone by enrolling over 2,000 new students, exceeding 400% of our KPI. The three most popular programmes which attracted the majority of our students are Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching (PGDT), Bachelor in Teaching Primary Education (BTPE) and Bachelor in Islamic Studies.
We are deeply grateful to Allah SWT for this remarkable achievement. It is the result of the hard work of all Kelantan Learning Centre staff, who went above and beyond to ensure the registration of many new students. Additionally, we are thankful to the departments and units at the Kelana Jaya headquarters, especially Group Marketing, for their steadfast support.
